What is The Whistle?

The Whistle is a cross-platform content provider representing the next generation of interactive sports content specifically designed for kids. TheWhistle.com is the online destination for news, games, contests, polls and a customizable locker where kids can display all their real-world and online achievements.

To learn more about The Whistle, you can check out our About Us page.

Does The Whistle.com collect personal information from my child?

Following the COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) ruling, children must have parental consent before entering any personal information, including e-mail addresses, in order to protect their privacy rights.

In order for children under 13 to be able to access the full Whistle experience, we ask for the e-mail address of a parent or guardian in order to receive their consent before allowing the child to access the site.

Once we receive your explicit permission, your child will be able take full advantage of all of our features, including personalizing their own locker, keeping track of their scores in games and trivia, and being eligible for Whistle contests and prizes.

Is the Whistle.com safe for my child?

The Whistle is committed to providing a safe, fun and age-appropriate online destination for kids.  This includes safeguarding all information gathered and keeping users informed on how to control their personal information while using our site.  We’re a children’s website, so our top priority is ensuring that children only access content appropriate for them. We do not display advertisements on our website and we never ask users to disclose more information than is necessary.  You can view more information about how to keep your child safe on our Internet Safety Guide.

We work hard to ensure that our Privacy Policy and information practices adhere to the Federal Trade Commissions Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).  COPPA requires that we inform parents and guardians of children under 13-years-old if we collect personal information from their child and that we get permission if the child wants to use certain features of the site.

The Whistle is also committed to promoting lifetime health and wellness for children and their families, so we pledge to develop creative programming and online messaging to teach kids about activity and nutritional standards.

To run Whistle videos, your system must meet the following requirements:

-You must have a high-speed connection (DSL or Cable modem)

-Minimum Operating System: Windows 2000 SP4+, Windows XP / Mac OS X

-Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 (or higher) / Mozilla Firefox 5.0 (or higher)

Why can't I get a game to load?

You might need to download a flash or shockwave plug-in in order to run Whistle games.  You can download the flash player here and the shockwave plug-in here.

If the game is still not working, it might be because you are running ad-blocking software that stops the game from loading.  Turn off the ad-blocking software (don’t be afraid to ask your parents!) and try again.
